At Mayflower High School, we believe that wellbeing is the foundation of success, happiness, and opportunity for all. A strong sense of wellbeing enables every member of our community to feel valued, supported, and empowered to thrive—both in their learning and in life.
Our approach to wellbeing embraces physical, mental, emotional, and social health. We are committed to creating a positive school culture where every individual can reach their full potential.
Our Wellbeing Priorities
A Safe and Inclusive Environment
We foster a culture of respect, belonging, and inclusion, ensuring that all students, staff, and families feel safe, welcomed, and supported.
Mental and Emotional Health
Through our curriculum, assemblies, and participation in national awareness events, we promote resilience, self-awareness, and positive mental health.
Physical Wellbeing
We encourage active, healthy lifestyles, recognising the close link between physical health and overall wellbeing.
Supportive Relationships
We place relationships at the heart of school life, building strong partnerships between students, staff, and families. We prioritise open communication, collaboration, and care so that everyone feels connected.
Our Commitment
We take a whole-school approach to wellbeing, providing effective support, understanding, and early intervention where needed. By placing wellbeing at the heart of our policies and practice, we ensure that every individual has the opportunity to succeed.
At Mayflower High School, we understand that a mentally healthy community is not about being happy all the time, but about working together through challenges, celebrating achievements, and ensuring that everyone feels heard, accepted, and valued.
One common challenge for both parents and students is the transition back to school after the holidays. To assist with this, we have attached support resources from Dr. Tinarae, a child psychologist and award-winning author focusing on the social, emotional, and mental health of children and young people.
